    Has anyone been able to upgrade there home server to a 2008 OS and retain the functionality of the home server?

    I agree it is way outdated, however I am looking at the features on it mainly the backup features of clients.

    Yes, Home Server is on 32-bit architecture, but this is the best way for home users. If you have 2xQuad Core, 16GB RAM and xxTB HDDs in your server, homeserver is wrong way for you. In next generation will be homeserver on Windows Server R2 2008 but all applications must be rewrited (web apps, add-ins). And upgrade from server 2003 to server 2008 is not simple...
