im trying to build a home server so i can store my files and be able to acces them from anywere. witch windows server version is best for me? do i need a powerfull computer if im also streaming movis or music? how does the activation works? is it the same like windows 7 if i modd the bios will it just activate with oem slp key? thanks in advance

thanks for the opionion but i was looking at something with more power. i was looking at this AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor ASUS M3N78-VM AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 HDMI Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s with everything i was looking at spending like 450$ i dont know if the processor will work fine or would i need a x4 i will be doing hd streaming
And could I ask why would you build this workhorse to just store some files & stream media? The recommended Qnap will do all this with no problem & you can use it for tons of other tasks at the same time if you wish. And the good thing is... it does NOT run Windows! sebus
i get up point. ok well this is what i really whant to be able to do. store a bunch of movies in it hd stream store my pictures and stuff able to automatic back up my systems be able to acces all my files from anywere able to remote desktop from anywere and something i can upgade in the future. i liked the hp smartserver but will i be able to acces my files from anywere like lets say im at a frinds house and i want to play my music
