I have a Galaxy S4 that is now off contract (I don't think that matters). Just updated to Lollipop. I would like to clean my phone of all the Verizon and Samsung crapware that is taking up so much space on my phone. What's the best way to get rid of the crap without ruining the phone? Do I need to root it and/or install a different system image?

I am also thinking of leaving Verizon and going with Total Wireless from Walmart. $35 for unlimited talk/text and 2.25gb data. That's more than I get from Verizon now and I pay about $75 a month. Total Wireless uses Verizon's network.

Bonus pic of my best friend. :hug2:

    Yes, you need root.

Which build of Android are you using?

It's Lollipop (v5.01). I am not sure it can be rooted yet.

Thanks for trying to help, but I have a I545, so it looks like no root for me. I disabled most of the crapware and turned off the notifications. I'll keep an eye out for root when it becomes available.

One more reason I would never go back to Verizon.
