How can I upgrade my computer? I'm uploading more photos about my computer information for you reference. Please give me advice how to improve my computer system that make it run as smoothly as a new computer.
To make a proper recommendation, We'd need more info than what you have provided. What motherboard do you have? If it's a name brand, which make and model number? After that, it comes down to what you can afford. Almost -every- computer system shows a performance increase when you A) Add more RAM and / or B) Replace the primary hard drive with a faster drive. LGA 1150 Asus board with 8 gig of RAM and the i3 cpu. What is it you use your PC for ? The machine does not seem to be too old with the Haswell chip in it. It will take 32 gig of RAM - Who needs all that ? It will take the i7 4770K - Which can be over clocked. Are you playing games ? Are you using on board graphics ? If so sling in a nice GPU, summet like an R9 290 or similar. 8 gig of RAM should be OK, unless you video edit a lot.
hm. it looks like a nice enough rig as it is.. i would stay absolutely clear of ssd, videocards that have lousy drivers and that will selfdestroy within a year anyway, eat amperes of your power unit, develop heat, and just give headaches.. an i5 would be nice to have, without overclocking. an i7 is only useful if you use adobe premiere or such stuff, and that is overexpensive anyway. what i would do in your case; mb add an i5, and some ram. and count my blessings and use the machine as it is, after that. and use the money you save from further upgrades for the next one you buy.. by postponing that next one you will benefit from newer developments and lower prices by that time too.. i do wonder where you hit this ones`limitations, btw.
For a very long time, I felt the same way you did about SSDs. Last year I decided to test the waters and bought a 120GB Crucial M500 SSD to replace the original WD hard drive on my old workhorse, a Lenovo T400 Thinkpad. At the same time, I upgraded the memory from 2GB to 4GB using Crucial memory. Then I did a clean installation of Windows 7 and applied most of the recommended tweaks that are used when running Windows on a SSD. I immediately noticed how much faster the T400 booted, and how snappy Windows responded as well as other applications. It was like buying a new machine, and I regret that I hadn't done it sooner. I installed CrystalDiskInfo to monitor and track the M500's health and CrystalDiskMark to measure it's performance. It's sequential read speeds were always between 270-285 MB/sec and it's sequential write speeds were always between 140-150MB/sec. This might seem slow, but when you take into account the T400's drive bay has a SATA2 connector, these numbers are very realistic. After testing this for several months and finding no large variations, I uninstalled CrystalDiskMark, seeing it was pointless to continue testing. I kept noticing that every time I checked it using CrystalDiskInfo, my M500's projected lifetime remained at 100%. Finally, not that long ago, it ticked down from 100% to 99%. I got out my sales receipt and realized that I had owned the M500 for 10 months. If you extrapolate the numbers, namely (99x10)/12, my M500 just might last 82.5 years at the current rate of use I'm subjecting it to. That changed my attitude toward SSD's by 180 degrees.
Yeah my bad...I didn't look at the pictures. I'm with John Sutherland on this one. I have a Samsung 830 SSD (500 gb) and my system runs -very- fast. I have it hooked up to a sata 3 port, although you should notice an increase. I had a mechanical hd and I noticed a marked performance increase with the SSD. Also, the system is much more quiet without the mechanical drive. Just make sure to do backups (in case something goes wrong) and remember that defragmenting a SSD is a nono. Also, in defense of more RAM, the more the merrier. If you have to choose between more RAM or a SSD, then go for the SSD. :MJ
and use mklink.exe to make some folders mapped to old hdd like huge games.. from cSSD) to ehdd)\Program Files
I have installed 8GB ram 1333.Also, I'm using on board video card. But, is video card equal to graphics card?
Do you mean I should buy a CPU of I5? Also, should I buy a extra 4GB ram to 12GB ram (4+8) totally? Then, If it too expensive I buy the two things in my country. But, I want to play RPG game that these are no a problem for me. Please recommend it more to me.
Congratulation! You have bought a 128GB SSD and enjoyed the experience that made you happy and the system running quite faster that before. I though you did a good choice. Well done, boy! Ram is also an important things for computer. You have installed 4GB ram that is better than before 2GB ram. I want to know how much is it? How much do you buy a 128GB SSD and a 2GB RAM? Are you using CPU of I3 , I5 or I7?
Yes, I agree with you. I have 500GB HDD and 128GB SSD. I would like to install the games to 500GB HDD. This will save more space for another purpose.
