I have an Asus eee 701 that comes with an XP restore cd.
the problem is that it is sp2 & will not allow me to upgrade to sp3 due to the tiny hard drive.
my solution is to get a retail copy of xp home sp3 (xp pro uses to much hard disk space) and cut the size down with Nlite but I cannot figure out how to activate it. the instructions here http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/7580-How-To-Create-PRO-OEM-SLP-CD are for xp pro (which i cannot use) and the instructions here http://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/6077-VLK-and-OEMBIOS-changer... are for vlk edition.
So how to i use oembios files to activate an N lite'ed xp retail disk?

    thanks in advance

Read better..the changer is to change oembios files and activate PRO/HOME/MCE/ and WHS...Pro and home activate the same..just different serials...

re-read the stickies would be a good idea..

Maybe I have misread, but the oembios changer says it is to activate VLK editions, mine is a retail edition, my question was will it activate a retail edition? I can find no reference to activating retail.

It will work..it installs the correct key for oembios files also..

It is VLK AND OEMBIOS changer..the old script was named vlk2oem and is continued with this name for simplicity..will simply change OEMBIOS files and appropriate serial key for any type of install and makes them OEM...You need to change the files in more than one place and this tool does it..
