When you do a build upgrade of Windows 10/11 you get a 'Please wait' screen upon logging into your profile, sometimes I have issues migrating profiles and I want to force the profile to go through this process again without having to perform an entire in-place upgrade of the OS. What do I change in the registry to force the profile to restage upon next logon?
Based on this information, it is impossible to guess what is going on in your system and what exactly you want to do. But might think you have an older and slow computer, or it just hasn't been maintained and that's why it's slow, or you have a damaged OS that you're trying to update, or you have a bad and slow internet connection and to connect to servers just takes time. None of these can be resolved by any registry fix. Maybe you can elaborate on what exactly the problem is or what it looks like, or you can add something about your computer and the internet.
At first login after an upgrade, the computer says "Hi" and sits there for several minutes doing "stuff" in background while putting messages on screen about how updates are important. The question is how to force this to happen again, without going thru an actual upgrade or deleting the profile.
There's a way but it requires a bit of work on your part. Run C:\Windows\System32\oobe\msoobe.exe If it stays more than 5 minutes at Please wait spinning circle, Ctrl+Alt+Del: Sign out. Then, wait a minute, Ctrl+Alt+Del: Reboot. On resume, the OOBE (Out Of Box Experience) fullscreen wizard should start. Do note that it might not end automatically, and if it stays longer than usual and the message shown does not change, Ctrl+Alt+Del: Sign Out. Then, Login with your username. Explorer might be broken, don't worry. Ctrl+Alt+Del: Reboot. That should do it. But the end result is not what you expect. Proper reset of apps is during setup offline phase when the migration wizard will do it's magic.
Is there a way to trigger the phase without having to do the entire reload or is it just best that I still run through the entire in-place upgrade process?
