Sup people! Been searching a little while in google for now. Seems that Windows 10 does not use the ei.cfg file anymore, so I was wondering how can I force the install of Windows 10 Pro? I want to install the Insider Pro preview, but I just have a home license. I have downloaded the multiple versions iso (build 10586) and I haven't formatted the PC since build 10130. Thanks in advance!
Nailed it! Found over at neowin a post to create the ei.cfg file and add it to the /sources folder. neowin.net/forum/topic/1098507-windows-8-isos-dont-have-eicfg-anymore/ It goes like this (Contents of the .cfg file): Worked like a charm!
How about changing the EditionID in registry as follows: Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion] "EditionID"="Professional"
The ISO created by the official tool behaves like the old Vista installers. If you skip the CD key, it will ask which version to install. (Clean install, DVD boot only.)
Normally yes (on selfbuild systems, not always on 8.x branded/oem systems) This is about installing Pro on a 8.x Home system with a oemm bios key, using the Pro HWID it got with upgrading 7 Pro/Ultimate (DAZ)/8.1 pro (KMS) to 10240.
I am having this problem too, can't believe it's not possible with MSDN ISOs. ei.cfg just produces an "image not available" error on this HP laptop that came with 8.1 installed.
That only happens if it doesn't find a valid DM key. Now that TH2 recognizes 8.1 keys, if your system came with 8.1 Home you will not get a choice.
