With Vista I was able to move videos and music into my watch folders (even via a different machine on my home network) and they'd appear almost instantly in WMP and were therefore accessible instantly via my Xbox 360. However, with 7 I have to load WMP each time I add new files otherwise they don't get added to my library. Am I missing a setting?
I have had problems with Media Player 12, music that did not exist in the library, the only way I got into it was to close media player then delete the database for media player. And restart mediaplayer again and it works. you need to open hidden folders to find the location.
My folders aren't hidden so that's not the issue. For some reason my library is not automatically updated even though the WMPNetwork service is running. I'm not sure if this is how it works but I'd imagine it would keep a monitor on my watch folders and automatically update my library when I cut/copy media into them - this is how Vista appears to have done it.
i dont now if the problem is exactly the same i had, my problem was to add music/movie to the libery, no update at all. my resolution: close mediaplayer User/your computer name/Appdata/local/microsoft/mediaplayer then i delete all .wmdb files restart mediaplayer done.
I've manually cleared the database and rebuilt it but still have to manually run Windows Media Player before new content is shown on the 360. The thumbnail previews on the Xbox 360 have also never worked for me since using Windows 7. This area (although it is the only one) worked far better in Vista.
I have the same problem with WMP not automatically picking up new media I put into one of its shared folders. It's not updated until I launch WMP. I am running W7 RTM. Before I was running RC 7100 and the media library was updating properly. This didn't start happening until I installed RTM. Has anyone else experienced this?
