If I right-click on the app I have no 'uninstall' option, just 'pin to start'

Other 'metro' apps do have an 'Uninstall' option eg 'calendar' or 'calculator' for example

    tks

camera app cannot be uninstalled directly from Start screen or all apps screen. You only can remove it from Start screen.

Essential Modern UI apps can't be removed (easily). You might be able to use dism, but generally speaking, I'd probably just remove it from Start and be done with it.

Camera, Photo, SkyDrive are built-in packages and cannot be removed

Wow, very quick and comprehensive replies. Thank you so much :)

Well, if I can't uninstall it, does anyone know how I can disable the camera app ?

I inadvertently granted it 'Location' access which seems to enable the camera, ie I can see myself when I start the app.

How do I alter the permissions to deny it 'Location' access please, thereby disabling the camera...

    tks

yup, that's why I'm staying with windows 8, I used dism and removed everything, except for store which can be disabled with group policy, and other tweaks :)

    Thanks folks.

Just for the record, disabling the 'Location' setting, does NOT disable the camera. So when I start the Camera app I can still see myself :-(

Can you tell me how to make those packages visible? Edit the edition mum with what changes?

    Cheers

I also would like to know how to remove Camera, SkyDrive and Photos Apps!

Would someone please help me with this? :) Because my attempts are getting nowhere so far...

I already followed the instructions in the linked thread for the respective packages, but then how do i uninstall them using DISM?

If I try "dism /online /remove-package /packagename:......" at first it seems to work (progress bar moves from 0% to 100%) but then at the end I get an Error 50 (0×80070032). What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you! :)

Go download an app called install_wim_tweak:

    install_wim_tweak /o /n /c Microsoft-Windows-Camera-Package
    install_wim_tweak /o /n /c Microsoft-Windows-FileManager-Package
    Dism /Online /remove-package /packagename:Microsoft-Windows-Camera-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.9600.16384
    Dism /Online /remove-package /packagename:Microsoft-Windows-FileManager-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.9600.16384
    install_wim_tweak /o /h /n /c Microsoft-Windows-Camera-Package
    install_wim_tweak /o /h /n /c Microsoft-Windows-FileManager-Package

That'll remove it from the online image but not any current users. The package name is from my Windows 8.1 Enterprise. You might need to use get-packages and find your own package name.
