I have a prog I installed, but it complained about a duplicate product key being used and so it refuses to run.

I installed a different program whose protection against activation was to put blockers into your hosts file like so:
So that gives me a blueprint of how to block a company's activation server. However, How do you find out all of a company's activation servers? The crack I used in this prog had 16 servers to block. Sheesh.

I'm searching for a keygen so that I have a non-duplicate serial for the first prog, but I'm not having any luck finding one. If I could just block their servers, I wouldn't need one.

Or just use a good firewall & explicitely block the program from connecting to Internet (or make it even more granular, ie specific site only)

As far as I know that program requires a valid key to run so just blocking activation servers won't do. Now if you wanna find out all of those activation servers then use a firewall like Outpost/Zonealarm or inbuilt ones from say ESS/KIS to see all the network connections that the apps make & there you have it !

I'm not talking about your CS5 torrent but programs in general e.g. If you've got a duplicate key for iolo sys mech pro then you must block the program's network connections for it to work with that key. So my point is that if you've got a decent firewall then its probably easier to block network connections & stop activation servers getting in contact with a program than manually adding entries to the hosts file especially if you don't know what entries to add.

I hear you but seemed kinda obvious that the OP was talking regarding Adobe CS5 as well as CS4 of which the host file added entries are a simple and proven easy method but I appreciate your comment regarding other than Adobe programs and their relationship to the servers then engage. Thank you

I know he was talking about CS5 BTW you were referring to CS5 master collection trial(~5GB) download from adobe & that activation blocker OR you've posted them in a torrent ?

I was just stating that after hundreds of installs the activation blocker worked fine for CS4 and CS5 not for other programs. My Adobe MC CS5 is same as Adobe site dl. Not sure where were going with this other than your concepts of using firewall are valid for other programs and thus blocking servers trying to connect

I've got CS5 master collection trial(~5GB) but I just wanted to know whether you had the full blown retail version(~15GB) as the trial doesn't have all the programs like the retail version has.

I believe besides acrobat and languages it has the same stuff. I would be happy to share my torrents if you pm me if your curious. However with my install technique i do not install trial but with key and then as we have talked the activation blocker before hand

    Take care
