Hi, I am trying my projects with vmware but I need it to connect to a regular modded bios with SLIC 2.1 but I do not know how. I remember seeing this somewhere where you modify some vm file with notepad to allow it to detect the hosts bios. I do not want a modded vm bios I only want vmware to detect my real bios. Any info would be great, thanks guys.
NOT possible, VM is using its own BIOS and it does NOT take any notice of your real BIOS (nor you can make it do so in any way) sebus
Ok, I know I just posted this but you can with VMWARE 7. You do it by chaning the virtual machine options to go to guest isolation and check the option VMCI
Enable VMCI Umm, the help file does not claim that. Doesn't say it communicates with the Hardware/ Bios.. It says OS and other VM's.. As far as I know like sebus says, that is not possible.. Not unless I'm missing the scope of what's I quoted above.. If I am please correct me.. Plus the fact that I've tried it before to, but could not find a way to make it work..
Not sure about hosts ful bios but you can get it to read your dmi strings i,e you have a dell amchine and you want to install windows xp with dell cd. Code: Edit your .vmx file in notepad and add or edit SMBIOS.reflectHost = TRUE Just not that easy with Slic
i tested this function long time ago on vmware 6 to 6.5.0 with a real dell and dell winxp CD... and i never be able to activate Xp... even if the help guide say you can..
Maybe bacause Dell string is not really stored in DMI Could work for Hewlett-Packard (but who cares with all the mods available to VM BIOS...) sebus
