I used a batch script in conjunction with VLite to create a slim version of Windows 7 for gaming (no extra crap).
Among several services and programs I have also removed everything related to Windows Media Player.
Now it has come the time to use it again. o_O
How can I restore WMP 12 again into my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit Italian, no SP1)?

Sorry to say that you have to recreate another slim version of Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 12. Whatever components removed via vLite or RT 7 Lite cannot be replaced. It is irreplaceable as it is removed, as far as I know.

Besides Windows Media Player 12, did you also remove Windows Media Codecs?

Maybe other experts can advise you on how to insert back Windows Media Player 12. However, in forums discussing vLite or RT 7 Lite, it has been emphasized that whatever components removed cannot be replaced and it requires clean remake of the image.

I don't think VLC player is dependent on any part of WMP, give it a try. A lot of users actually prefer it to any version of WMP.

The fact is that I am using an ingame service that requires the use of WMP only.

Oh well, my experience with both vLite for Vista and RT7 Lite for Windows 7 is that you're going to have to start over from scratch.

I tried this with a Lite version. It failed due to incompatibility with my version of Windows.
