I installed the latest Nvidia video driver and my AERO went away and in the Personalize section under Window Color it now says Custom I clicked on Window Custom and all of the colors are gone and tells me that Desktop Composition is disabled. Please enable Desktop Composition before setting Window Colors. Where is it and how do you turn it on?? Bill
I had this problem in 7955 and 7989. You can't enable desktop composition right off the bat with the latest drivers. The way to fix it is to go to your device manager, right click your GPU, and update the drivers. Don't worry, no old drivers will be installed. After the microsoft drivers are "installed", go back to the nvidia control panel, click help, system information, about. You'll see that the drivers are indeed still your latest installed ones. Alternatively, you could simply roll back to the 270.61 drivers. Those don't break aero.
