Ok, i know it uses Grub4Dos (grldr) to load an emulated SLIC table into a memory location during boot. However what i cannot figure out is how it uses grub to do this. Is it a function inside grub to load a custom bios table and the creator of vistaloader just added a slic table into it? Does anyone know of a whitepaper or a full breakdown of vistaloader? Like step 1 it loads this into this, step two it modifies this etc etc. I'm just confused because when i run bcdedit everyone looks just like it does in my purchased copy of vista. Also, i can restore the MBR without affecting vistaloader and i thought that is how it worked... Thanks for your time. Ps: I searched a lot and could not find a technical breakdown.
