How long does windows take to perform upgrade to windows 8.1

    Hi,
    I have a Samsung laptop that came with Win7 It was purchased around 1 month before the release of windows 8
    So I took up the offer to have windows 8 pro for £14:99 & a free WMC key

    So now with the offer of windows 8.1 via windows store I thought time to upgrade, so I click the image in windows store & then click download & its been ding it for over 6hours

    I Have checked for the folders SoftwareDistribution/Downloads & $Windows.~BT the folders are there but its as failed to perform the upgrade

    If I click on the left hand corner of my desktop I see Installations & Below the windows 8 logo & downloading

    So what could be wrong as both my keys are genuine

    if it won`t do the upgrade & I go for clean install It should auto activate once I swap As the key to the one I purchased
    But what about my WMC key as I the only way to activate that is by phone & What is the best office to run on windows 8.1 as I`ve read MTK does not support office 2013

    as any user had the problems with their upgrade like this

    The download is around 3.2GB, so if you have a slow connection, it will take a long, long time.

    that's not my problem

    my broadband is 24mg & its fine
