    Why would Pro be bad? It is almost just like Ultimate only without a few things like Bitlocker and multi-language switching support

    In fact, for free, go for Ultimate; but if one has to pay, Home Premium would probably be the best (at least for me).

    If you had to pay I'd go with Pro becuase its cheaper than ultimate...
    If your a college student its really cheap if not free....

    i did use ultimate but then i had to install again :S and this time i had to buy new cds lol
    one is ultimate and another is professional. like a blind i installed professional and now im like uhh.. i like ultimate

    Of course many people have to pay so that MS stays in business, develops new software, which is promptly leaked, activated/rearmed by `enthusiasts', so that some (including me) do not have to pay !!

    I don't think there is any Pro VL out there. Correct me, if I'm wrong.

    Yes, there is.

    Pro is the only non-server edition besides Enterprise that allows for Volume Activation.

    Im using it myself at the moment.
