Dust is considered bad for the life of computer circuits. It clogs air-filters, insulates electronic components that get hot, and can even cause short-circuits. The proper way to remove dust is by blowing air, because sucking can draw in circuit jumpers. Unfortunately, being a lazy cat, I only clean the inside of my tower when I have cause to open it for another reason. In fact, I’m not even sure how to open the new one, that’s already 6 months old. Spoiler So how often do you clean your valuable machine?
I used to have to clean them out about every 6 weeks and then I changed my fans around to provide a positive pressure in the case so now I can go about 3 months. Negative pressure makes for much more fuzzies everywhere, although a positive pressure gives me a slightly higher temp, stays cleaner longer... it's a trade off Dogs & Cats = much animal dander in the filters I also keep my pc's about 3' off the floor
Yes, it's important to keep the tower off the floor, especially if you have a carpet that creates static.
"What? with like a cloth?" https://youtu.be/neCMc-GcAvQ?t=2m48s Probably every other year. No cats or dogs here so it stays relatively clean.
I have all my stuff on big desk in ac (with filter) room so less dust. Needs a bit of cleaning say every year or so, will have a thin film of dust on bottom of case.
@ R29k haha same here dude myself make one big desk then all machines stay there, still my my adorable cat mimi ever stay on my legs @Katz running loved Windows xp now
Every 3 month with this guy. Of course I shutdown everything first and remove the PSU cable first. I also suggest to hold one finger on your fan because otherwise it spin and that could be (if it's too fast spinning) bad for the storing/ball-bearing.
@CHEF-KOCH lol that difference you use one modern machine to clean while I still use "manual" dust cleaner hehe things of third world
But.... Dogs rule! Cats are a major PIA, they are sneaky, get into things they know they should not get into and they think they own everything that's yours
7 year old custom built I7 First Gen setup. Only once (3 years ago) did good cleaning. Fully disassembled, cleaned, changed thermal paste..... Yeah im lazy one. Maybe one day i will pay for my laziness.
only when it crashes.it managed to make its powerunit commit harakiri after a power outage, and it was cheaper to cheaper to buy a new box including power unit and put the hardware into it. so i now have a superclean machine.i use on-board graphics in this one, because i am not a game addict, and a proper video card will require a more expensive powerunit and a lot more money for only a marginal increase in performance, and dust will kill it very quickly anyway.
Cats do own everything that you think is yours and yes they are sneaky. Clean my pc once a year ish and a good cleaner like mr muscle to de-gak the fans.
Being a chain-smoker, having a dog and not being a clean freak, i have to frequently cleanout the pc casings
