I wasnt aware "they" have became that agressive with blocked vlk keys. Sounds like you installed a corporate edition of Windows. Easiest solution is to just change the vlk key with a real vlk key. People wont share those online for obvious reasons.

Is this computer a royality PC? and did it come with XP?

Royality meaning; Acer, Dell, Hp, Compaq, Sony, etc.

Best two methods to activate are:

1.) Buy a retail version of XP and phone activate.

2.) Write (tattoo) the HP SLP 1.0 string to your boards bios, build or borrow yourself a HP SLP OEM disk, or download a HP OEM disk from torrent, and & reinstall Windows.

On page two, i uploaded a bootable cd iso called "Hewlett Tattoo" that can write the string. They are also guides around here that explain how to build the OEM XP cd using your corporate disk. It just involves dumping your current XP cd contents to the drive, swapping some files, and reburning the cd.

The easiest method is just changing your key to a valid vlk key. Unless you work on a business computer with a vlk XP and can "borrow" there key its next to impossable to find a valid key.

I think his problem is that he is using a retail version of xp pro and it has allready been activated on his friend's machine, just changing to a vlk key won't help he will need vlk oem bios files or vlk cd.

The easiest way to determine what version he has installed is to look at the product ID. Right click on My Computer and choose properties. If the product id has 640 through 649 in the center.

    Example: 76487-640-xxxxxxxx

..then it was a corporate install.
