    Hi,

Everyone is doing the upgrading thing and I understand that, but I wanted to know how can Windows 10 be activated just by fresh installing it with no previous upgrades.

I know I can always buy it, but for the time being what are the possibilities?

    • Is the phone activation option still there?
    • If I somehow manage to activate it with KMS how long will the activation last?
    • What are the possibilities for the activating enterprise edition?

What possibilities exist at the moment (not including the upgrade option).

Enterprise- KMS 180 days, per MS by design. Will always be 180 days. The KMS tools refresh activation every reboot and so many hours. So it rarely ever goes under 179 days. Permanent as it gets for KMS.

no other options that you haven't already mentioned afaik.

    That is by MS design.

phone activation (I run slui.exe 4 via command prompt) is useless, they can't provide the confirmation id, and always ended to customer support

When you have the kms activation it seems you can just change to the retail key and then you end up with the retail version

if you do the upgrade thing (no matter daz's or windows 8/8.1), how long is your windows activated?
    a year?
    what happens afterwards?

its forever on THAT machine only. You have a year to DO the upgrade. After you DO the upgrade its forever on that machine. Upgrade your existing Win8.1 or Win7sp1 one time only and after the upgrade is complete and Win10 is activated, you will never need a key, just clean install on that machine and connect to the internet. It will activate.

It uses your system Hardware ID that it creates, that is unique to your set of hardware. During the activation after upgrade it sends that info to MS. The next time you install Win10, you can do it without the upgrade and connect to the internet and it will activate by sending that Hardware ID to MS, MS sees it and says OK I know you, here is your activation.

Thank you, this is a wonderful explanation. Again, thank you very much.

At the moment I have Windows 8.1 ENT (activated with the offline phone option).

I assume I need to do the following:
Windows 7, > activate it with Daz's loader, > upgrade it > activated successfully > format everything > fresh install windows 10 > it will be activated.

Does it work if I have Win 8.1 Pro activated with Microsoft toolkit?
Will I get Windows 10 activated?

you assume correct. IF for any reason it has trouble activating, just reboot and it should be GO. MS activation servers have been having issues today

Total format and clean installation won't be a problem, right? I will be still activated. After I do the upgrade first.
Even tho I have [let's say] I have Win 8.1 Pro activated with Microsoft toolkit?

Thanks EFA11, I really appreciate it.

once the upgrade is performed and MS has your hardware ID, and win10 is activated. You can clean install as often as you like. never enter a key, just install connect and activate. It will grab the info from MS and match it to your hardware (The new windows 10 key basically)

Since I have Windows 8.1 ENT I think I will do this:
    • install Windows 8.1 PRO,
    • activate it with Microsoft toolkit
    • upgrade it with a downloaded original ISO of windows 10 pro,
    • Once it is upgraded and activated successfully I will format everything and I will do a fresh clean install
