    It's very possible that people can restore their activation, they've just changed things around a bit so we have to figure it out first.
    I wouldn't recommend data.dat swapping, that can be fixed with a simple wat update like they did last december 10th

    So I'm guessing an upgrade with a legit retail key will work as well?

    How about a clean install with a legit Win8 retail key. Anyone tried yet?

    Tried to activate via Ph***.
    Results - Fail.

    That's what I am asking for,people install 8.1 x64 RTM and activate online with a retail key,then send us data.dat,we use data.dat to trick our 8.1 it's activated,so we can use our wmc key to upgrade to wmc and activate via phone :)

    if i restore my activation from windows 8 pro using adavnc token manager
    it will be work?

    I doubt it, but Im going to try it soon, im partitioning atm.

    My 5 cents.

    1. Installed Windows 8 WMC (legal WMC key) updated to Windows 8.1 WMC Preview through Windows Store - stayed activated.
    2. Saved file tokens.dat.
    3. Did a clean install of Windows 8.1 WMC Preview with saved tokens.dat - not activated.
    4. Did a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro Preview with legal preview key provided by MS - activated. Then upgraded to Pro WMC with my legal WMC key - activated.
    5. Saved file tokens.dat.
    6. Did a clean install of Windows 8.1 WMC Preview with saved tokens.dat - not activated.

    somebody know when will work kms activation for windows 8.1(kmspico,M$toolkit.) ?

    Try:
    Install 8.1 and activate with retail key.
    Upgrade 8.1 with WMC key.
    Copy whole SPP folder.
    Create 8.1 with WMC ISO using the whole SPP folder
    Reinstall using that ISO installing with WMC key.
    Activate via phone if needed. (the main thing to get working is allowing install with WMC key + WMC upon first boot.)

    Once this is sorted the rest should be simple just swapping keys in and out and phone activation.

    That's what I intend to do with 8.1 RTM version. But I'm waiting for Russian edition.

    What would be the best way to activate it on my Surface Pro? Since they don't supply the key with the unit, I assume it's in the UEFI, I can't enter in the key for activation. Would backing up the activated 8.1 preview tokens.dat then restoring it after installing 8.1 fresh from USB work?

    Hey People,Just want to get it clear here, and it may have been answered, but I can't find it. Can Windows 8.1 without WMC be activated using a legit key from Windows 8 without WMC. Thanks in advance. Jesse
