If you are using Windows 10 Home the only way to stop the updates from automatically downloading is to set your wifi connection to Metered. This will stop the updates from automatically downloading. Then you can use any of the tools above to block the updates you do not want.

The Metered option will only be available if your computer has wifi. If you do not have wifi, the only way I found to stop them is disable Windows Update in Services. Once a week or so I Enable Windows Update and manually check for updates.

I have tried every Registry hack I could find and nothing worked on the Home edition. I tried O&O ShutUp Windows 10 and that did not work either. Microsoft does not want Home users to be able to block updates. Like I said above, the only thing that I found to work is turning on Metered connection or Disabling Window Update in Services.

If you have Windows 10 Pro any of the above will work.

Somethings you need updates for, but if you need program that will notify you with sound that there are updates to be downloaded, lets you hide updates you don't wan't, and install just the ones you want, click on Minitools in my sig, set it to notification mode.:D

I wonder, is there a way to disable automatic driver updates? I hate it the most.

Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > Do you want Windows to download driver softwares… for you devices > No, let me choose what to do > Never install driver software from Windows Update. Click on Save changes.

This was ineffective with release 10240. Is it working with 10586?

You have to select the update and then press the +H button that will hide the update and voila it won't come back in your regular updates ;)

Using a firewall to block is an option.
