Right click on the Start Button and select "Run" Type "regedit" Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer>Advance Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value, call it "EnableXamlStartMenu" Restart Explorer just done it on mine as i perfer that start menu to new one
I also prefer that start menu. The "new" one is the same as using windows 8-8.1 except it not being full screen size. Its great we have this registry tweak.
Does this bring back the pre-9926 XAML Start Menu (the one that was in-use by-default on previous builds)? And does it allow you to switch back to the Start Screen? Does it bring back Charms? And for anyone who would be willing to try; does this Start Menu function with EnableLua=0 (UAC disabled)? (not on 9926 atm to verify)
no don't bring back the charms yes it the older resizable start menu you bring back from previous builds
Everyone! Report in the feedback app that we prefer the old resizable start menu! Is there a regedit file that can do it automatically? Everyone can simple just run the file and it will do it for them.
thank you so much I totally hate the new Modern UI startmenu. Now i can run the magic powershell cmd to remove all apps.
... Did you respond without even checking? I can switch to the Start Screen without issue after doing the above registry entry. Also, it works fine wine with UAC disabled like in previous builds
I sent feedback on it, Just when I was actually getting to like the Start menu in prior builds, they ruined this one. WAY too radicle of a change and WAY too similar to Win 8.
