I have damaged XP by virus in HP laptop. I've tried few versions (old) ERD Commander and always had BSOD on any system. It's there any other tool, which will allow me to view my files and copy them or through network or to USB HDD. HD in that laptop has connectors I can't use on different machine. It's SATA but has weird connectors. I know it would be easy to put HDD and my desktop machine and copy all but I don't have a way to connect HDD to my machine. Help please... TIA
I had an option to disable SATA. But ERD is still crashing. If I will d/load SATA driver, can be read fro USB HDD or memory stick? This thing doesn't have a floppy.
if i were you i will use linux livecd like debian etc. and copy all my docs. howtogeek have an article "Use Ubuntu Live CD to Backup Files from Your Dead Windows Computer" and there is many alternative like i can use windows7 cd or winpe todo robocopy to external drive
Use the tool called "Testdisk 6.13b" on Hiren's Boot CD, i have use it once on damaged XP partition (C: not visible in My Computer) with bad sectors and Testdisk listed all files ,read them and copyed all files to another drive.
