Hello, i was trying to help my friend to create a backup of the windows 7 installed on his laptop but it turned out to be on 4 cds... Is there any tool(s) that i can use to create a clean windows backup with? Thanks in advance. Fuse
Well I have done it with the backup utilities of Hiren's Boot CD rebuilt. and I saved it to a separate partition on the hard drive that I created for the purpose. alternatively you can save it to a portable usb hard drive, I've done that too ...T.
I've used 7's built in system image maker and Acronis True Image Home 2010 ... both worked flawlessly for me. And yeah, if your OS's foot print is 15-20GB or so that's going to take 4-5 DVDs not CDs. The only really successful choice for me has been a hard drive ... internal and external. Wife's Windows 7 installation (including her user data) is over 70GB and growing. No way either of us are going to sit and nurse an optical drive through the process.
What tool were you trying? CD? not DVD? DVD is better, and I suggest you try aomei backupper, which supports Image File Compression
