i mentionned that in part 6 of the post and i indicated that it is the most important part of the whole process.
I guess you've put enough 'real' in there. Microsoft lately includes multi SKU specific certificates in many SKUs so that conventional up/downgrade can be done by changing the key only. Pro <=> Enterprise & Pro <=> ProEducation work same way - there is nothing 'unreal' in it.
As I told you earlier, there is absolutely no need to go through those lengthy procedures as you can switch between Pro <=> ProEducation <=> Enterprise on the fly by changing the key. @mkuba50 also showed you an example.
My friend, please read carefully what i said in my previous post. i've already mentionned in all my previous posts that you can do the upgrade with a key on certain conditions but you don't seem to pay attention to what people write here so please go back to my previous post, i explained in the best possible way how and on which condition you can upprade with a key to benefit of version's features on which you want to upgrade to.
yes you are right, he was clearly talking about changing the index name from home to ProfessionalEducation but i mentionned in the OP that you can bypass this by creating ei.cfg and add this line into the file [EditionID] ProfessionalEducation This way, the system will automatically install professionaleducation version. As he mentionned, you can also use a tool called GimageX which allows to change index names easily,i dicovered that tool thanks to @Enthousiast. because Micrsosft is known for a while that it is flawed so i am not surprised at all about this.
Other than just bragging rights or having a Windows read you a different title for the listed edition in their system readout, what benefits, if any, are there when compared to Windows Professional Education over regular Windows Education?
I have imagex, and I have no problem changing Flags or description. I made this myself from Home edition using only dism, and imagex. Spoiler Windows PowerShell Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. That's good question, all i can tell you is that education version is higher than Professional and ProfessionalEducation versions and thus contains more features, maybe someone else will be able to give us more information about this.
No it's not the case,if you want to be sure about this go to an installed ProEducation machine then type this command : Code: Dism /Image:C:\mount /Get-CurrentEdition By typing this command you will see the current windows version that is running on your machine and you will see ProfessionalEducation edition to appear after typing this command. then you type this : Code: Dism /Image:C:\mount /Get-TargetEditions By typing this command you are going to check to which different versions ProfesssionalEducation edition can be upgraded to and you will see education edition to appear after typing this command so that proves that education is higher than ProfessionalEducation.
Education - Based on Enterprise (and not on Core as one would assume) ProEducation - Based on Pro MS naming tends to s*ck goats nuts.
But (Pro-)Education can be set-editioned from home: Code: dism.exe /image:c:\mount /Get-TargetEditions Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.15063.0 Image Version: 10.0.16257.1 Editions that can be upgraded to: Target Edition : ProfessionalWorkstation Target Edition : ProfessionalEducation Target Edition : Professional Target Edition : Education The operation completed successfully.
