Hi, I have been searching the internet now for 3 days and still don't have a clear idea how to downgrade my bios. I bought a second hand HP Spectre X360 15-ch075nr. It is working great except the right speaker has low volume and crackling sound and I understand this is a bios problem. Now I don't want to upgrade my bios because of all the intel microcode patches that come with it, it seems they are now even locking down cpu undervolting. So I want to try downgrading the bios but that is also locked by hp. I read that it might be possible with fpt, but on another form I saw a warning not to us the standard 083ba.bin file that comes with the hp bios packages because it deletes the UUID, Serial, DTS Key? I also see that the dump made by fpt is smaller (6mb) then the 083ba.bin file (8mb). Does anyone know how to downgrade the bios? Thanks!
The BIOS Modders here like @Serg008 can give you better orientations, but with AMI and Insyde tools is relatively easy to go back on BIOS versions, by my own experience with HP and AMI was Flawless to go forward and back, and Same with Dell and Insyde BIOSes, I don't know about phoenix BIOS... but with the BIOS manufacturer's tools, go so easy... With tools provided by HP can be complicated...
Thanks, yes I know the tools of HP don't work, they don't want you to downgrade. What tool did you use for AMI on HP? FPT or AFU? Did you use the official bios supplied by HP or a modded one. I can only find detailed procedures of how to do bios modding, but I just need to flash the old version. Only I am not sure that works with the bin file that HP supplies.
Thanks mate. I will contact Serg. On this page I did see that indeed AFU doesn't work for hp spectres. Question is if intel's FPT would work at least it is able to make some kind of bios dump.
the dump is missing the descriptor and intel ME region.. only bios region dumped. hardware programmer is best.
