    So I called MS support to activate Windows, they gave me a 48 digit code to enter to activate Windows, I wiped my USB stick and erased the TXT file I created that held the code, I really don't want to have to call MS again, so is there anyway I can retrieve the code from my current 8.1 installation?

    @RaZe_

    Assuming you're using a retail key, what's wrong with online activation?

    It doesn't work anymore, it only works on Windows 10 when I install that. It says that the key is being used on another PC which it is not, but Win10 works fine, so I need to call to activate, but it's annoying. So is there anyway to get the code from my current installation or any other way to preserve the activation?

    Well where I activated by phone I can use Advanced Tokens Manager to restore my activation.

    Because quite frankly, I don't like Windows 10, and Windows 8 just works. :)

    Yes, there is a very important and special reason for using anything else but Windows 10: the latter is, frankly speaking, a total disaster.

    For a note: telemetry on private PC is absolutely unacceptable without any exceptions. Hey, your PC is your private property!

    Windows 8.1 also has telemetry logging as does OSX. You can disable them same as Win10 though.

  9. Then stop using Windows and move to Linux.
