I tried using MKLINK, but whenever I run Office, it gives error message.

    Any other way?

I have been looking for a solution to this also. Looks like using the C2R installer the retail Office 2016 uses cannot do this. It goes on the system drive and that's it.

Hopefully the VL installers will leak today as they hit VL customers and that will have all the old installer goodness.

If you have not already found an answer, do this:

    Run from you install folder:
    Code:
    setup.exe /admin
    Microsoft Office Customization Tool opens.
Then change the desired install folder: Setup -> Install location and organization name
Change other default install setting if needed.
Click Save[/] and save the customization file (*.msp) in the folder [Updates] in your office install folder.

Run setup (without /admin) and it will install office with the specified changes.

If you can't save *.msp in the installfolder\updates (because you run from dvd or iso), save in another folder,
    and then run
    Code:
    setup.exe /adminfile <path>\yourfile.msp
Note: I am using office pro plus VL.
I don't know if this works with non VL/other editions
