I want all Windows 10 windows to be displaying file in Detailed View. I already went into View - Options - View and selected Apply to folders, but it doesn't affect many folders! In fact I can't get Detailed View to stick to many windows.

    Read what's written in Options:

You can apply this view to all folders of this type

No, it won't remember the view I used for that specific folder where I changed and applied the view I wanted. Every time, almost every folder, gets a reset in regards to view type...

AFAIK, there's no built-in option to make one constant view type to all folders.

I always use this: Open Explorer -> View -> Options -> View(2nd tab) -> Apply to folders (You cans apply this view 'such as details or icons' to all folders of this type.)
This will apply the view that is current on the explorer to other folders.

It does work for me, but not sure you are asking for this ?!

edit: scratch that :/ I need to go to bed. I missed that in the OP comment :/

Same problem here. Always been the case with even the earlier Windows 10 builds. Not sure what they did to mess this up. It always worked in 7/8.1 for me.

You can do it, but you need to go into each folder type once and set it to the view you want then do the apply for all folders thing in File Explorer options, do it for Documents, Music, Pics, Videos, and the general files in the root of C:

Then you need to do it once also for the libraries folders but here there is no need to do the apply for all folders, if you go to Documents for examples in libraries from the left pane of computer (you need to enable Libraries in the view) then set the view type of documents for example, it will remain the same always

I do this once when I format and never have to worry about it again. no need for any registry tweak or anything
