Sorry if this is a re-post.

Is there any way to open skype on desktop mode on windows 8.1? I don't quite like running an app full screen. And also is there any way to open other metro apps on desktop mode?

I do not want to disable metro completely or part of it, i just want to open some of the metro apps or their desktop alternatives on my desktop.

Then download the desktop version, or use Snap to snap the Metro app to the side (drag the app from the very top and move it to either side of the screen), it's not rocket science.

Metro apps and desktop programs are completely separate. You can only open Metro apps inside the Metro interface. They are not desktop programs so can't be moved around inside a window on the desktop area.

Well, just unistall Skype via start menu (rightclick that tile and choose uninstall) and get Skype like fkar said. Install that and your are good to go.

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...
