I've been going over the forums for a few days and I think I am getting bits and pieces on how to do this. I need help filling in the blanks. I have: ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard Vista 64 Ultimate Disk Retail (but with no key) I have followed the instructions on how to mod your own bios. Made sure there was no FC module. Loaded my bios image into the other program and set it for ASUS. Flashed the new bios. Now what? I know I need a certificate of some sort and the correct key. What are the steps to do this? Do I have to find the key and certificate before I start? Load vista without inputing the key? Any help is appreciated (And any points to find the required certificates also appreciated).
Install Windows Vista. Do not enter any product key. Download ASUS OEM certificate ASUS.xrm-ms and put it on C:\ root directory. Install the digital certificate by using following command in command prompt: slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\ASUS.xrm-ms Input and change the Windows Vista product key to the Asus OEM product key by using following command in command prompt: slmgr.vbs -ipk <Asus OEM product key>
hi. first wanted to say TY for the quick responce on the modded bios in the request thread Fzeven. k, so im looking for this "ASUS.xrm-ms" file. i cant seem to find it on the site here. now i found one in the paradox bios emulation toolkit (i use it for my VMware test workstation) will this copy of the file work? or do i need s certian version or copy of this file? and yes, this is all for a test machine. im switching to a modded bios for a physical test machine, because the paradox fix is reported to not work properly with x64 versions of vista.
click on the link given in post #3 above and it will take you to the page where you can find some OEM product keys
Seems you must have an account to view that link. I tried to sign up, but I haven't received the conformation email... Tried another email address, worked this time.
