How to protect folders

    Hi.
    I want to know if there is a way to protect folders with a password but not using winrar or similar?
    just adding a Password?
    If there isn´t a way, exists a software which I can trust to do this? It can be free or paid. It doesn´t matter for me.

    Pity about TC, as Bitlocker is not even close. And on W7 never worked on system drive without TPM
