I tried through the Group Policy Editor:

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar

Right-click the “Remove Recommended section from Start Menu” policy and select the Edit option.

Chose enabled, then rebooted, it's still there

Then I tried adding this key to:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

    HideRecommendedSection

The section is still there and takes up half the space of the start menu

I also selected in Settings > Personalization > Start Menu, to show more pinned apps but I just want to get rid of that entire section

This is on build 23H2 22631.2428

    any ideas?

You can only remove the reccommended section in the start menu on Education and Enterprise SKUs. Won't work in Home or Pro.
