I feel like a newbie here but I went strait from XP to Windows 7.

How do you run a program as an administrator within the Command window? Somehow Windows corrupted my SD card and wants to reformat it. (I was not even writing to the card. Just in and out of sleep mode with the card inserted in the reader).

Anyway, I am trying to recover the card with the chkdsk command but I need Administrator rights to run it and there is no 'right-click Run as administrator' option in the menu.

Please tell me? I feel really stupid.... and embarassed.

    Thanks

Right click on 'Command Prompt' and 'Run as Administrator'.
Anything you then run in the 'Command Window' should have 'Administrator Rights'.

    Thanks for the tip.

I was however unable to recover my SD card. Chkdsk does not repair cards detected as RAW type.

Anyone knows of software or utilities I can try?

Active@ File Recovery was able to display all the files on the SD card but the demo version allows me to recover files less than 64KB.

At least I now know that I can retrieve my files. I will search for a free solution.

    Thanks to all
