the reason for windows 7 is that i can shrink the installation so much that it works much faster on usb key and i have no tokens for windows 8 that work in virtual box! i tried to make vmware portable but it does not stay activated if you put it in another pc ( there are no dump questions)
OK, but is a W8 pro so much different in size than a W7 pro in regards not fitting to a USB stick or being useless because of it's over-size? edit: if the reasons is the activation itself, I only can agree
size matters indeed, my usb kms including app is 4,79 GB and zipped with 7-zip its 1,52 GB and i know that its even possible to make that smaller
from windows 7 i can remove everything i don't need already by making a unattended and much smaller installation and i should not know why it matters? i only intend to use this to activate pc's not to use it as a operating system.
I'm with you. I'm not talking 'bout general OS but just as the activating system put to USB as portable application. If it is much easier to shrink 7 than 8, this is ok.
has anyone been successful with this guide? activation does not work for me changed uuid replaced tokens.dat and pkeythingy changed product key still not activated reduced uncompressed win 7 pro install to 3.3GB on drive (969mb install iso), try that with windows 8
Come on, in the meantime mooo (Muh ..lol) gets you to your activation until this portable thing is working fine
replaced it with the tokens for virtual box? and chanced uuid in both files? KMS USB.vbox and VirtualBox.xml ? you can also try to delete VirtualBox.xml and restart app! it was a little tricky for me also but i would not made this Thread if it not worked. Good luck
ohh ... i forgot to tell... your time zone of your kms virtual pc must be correct to your own timezone! i ran in to this problem too! installing it in english version it was automatically set to US time zone and did not work
