Hello, twice this week the WU app on 9926 has tried updating something that was NOT necessary. Late last week it automatically updated my Bluetooth stack and killed my Logitech BT dongle (the one from my diNovo Combo). I had to emergency repair my broken Unifying mouse just to get back to working status, which was easy enough but still was totally uncalled for since the latest 8.1 drivers were working flawlessly already.

Now a few minutes ago WU tried to update my Realtek HD Audio drivers (which are Jan 20th 2015 Dated) which are the latest 8.1 drivers and working flawlessly and MORE then good enough. I tried to find a stop button, or a "Ignore this Update" button but NOTHING. No right click stop, no forego, no "Help This Update is BAD and I DON'T want it" button.

So, if there is a update you know for fact should NOT be installed, what is the new way to immediately avoid that update? The NEW extremely unimproved WU app sucks. On the old WU app you could right click and hide the update, and or deselect any update you wish. Are they taking that away or am I missing something?

I understand Windows updates, but not driver updates which I can do myself.

If I'm not mistaken, I've read somewhere that the option to select what gets updated will come in later builds.

Right Click MY PC --> Properties --> Advanced System Settings --> Hardware --> Device Installation Settings
Check "Never install driver software from Windows Update"
    Leave Automatically get the device.....Checked
    Click Save Changes/ Okay

    Done!

Microsoft just needs to release a 'fix' for windows update, if I have to I'll go into my registry..but I'd rather have the windows 10 developers fix the issue. :(

Thank you that was exactly what I was hoping for, and its built in, no reg hack. Perfect.

I don't need non-working Win10 drivers, what I need are working drivers, like the ones I have already installed.

Well that "Never install driver software from Windows Update" setting does not work for me. Today, Windows 10 WU installed the latest Realtek drivers, although they appear to be working this time, the setting to stop driver updates is NOT. lol

    Even newer drivers too v

This reg tweak will allow WU to only check for updates and drivers, but not to download or install them.
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update]
    "AUOptions"=dword:00000002

This will be fixed in the next Insider Build.

Yesterday Windows 10 9926 installed the latest WDDM 2.0 drivers. I had to manually install CCC immediately afterwards, but it looks like all is working fine. Thought I would mention it since WU is set to not install drivers, yet it still does anyway.

What about driver installation setting in group policy editor? Maybe this will work in every build?
