Hello. I have a vostro that came preinstalled with win Vista. I updated the bios with the most recent version from Dell A08 and now the slic table is no longer visible and windows cant activate. I have tried setting the asset tag to PASS:12/31, PASS:12/34, and PASS:1234 none of witch worked. Any ideas?

Did you have the original vista dvd that come with your computer. If so try to install vista back and see if it will unhide the slic. Usually original dell dvd have in the installation tools to unhide slic it it will do itself automatically durind the installation process.Just try and hope it works.

That is not true original dell dvd is just OEM SLP dvd all it does is install and activate vista it does not have any tools, but the drivers and utilities disk has asset tools.

I'm really sorry to resurrect this old thread but i have the same issue and can't find any way to make this work. did anybody ever get this to work?
vostro 1720 bios A08, tried re-SLICing with both 2.1 and 2.2 and used svctag.exe and asset.com to reset the service tag and set PASS;12/31 and PAS:12/34
