Boot to Windows Installer Do Ctrl + F10 for CMD Code: Diskpart List Disk Select Disk 0 (usually for OS) clean You would lose everything on it, but it shall fix the SSD issue.
the problem is getting to the windows installer. windows team edition locks boot from USB even when i set that as boot drive in bios. all installer optins are locked as far as i can tell.?
update - it seems this version has written to the UEFI structures on my laptop. booting form GPT discs is now impossible. even after I take out the offensive SSD, hard-reset bios, flash bios backwards and forwards, and start with a new USB or SSD, it will not boot from GPT. I tried using Rufus in GPT/secure boot mode and its UEFI loader triggers a write-protect error when saving UEFI settings. is writing to the UEFI modules part of windows and rufus boot normally? thus i think i baked my laptop for anything but MBR boot. any recovery tips? i understnad that I dont understand much, and appreciate any direction. thnak you
Wow, this sounds like the most bizarre and absurd thing I have ever heard in my life. To think a specific Windows edition could cause all this pain and suffering to a poor laptop. More like the Insider Preview from hell, oh man I wish you good luck with this, damn the thing might be cursed.
Not that easy. It's CodeIntegrity Policy for Surface Hub being written to UEFI which won't be recongnized by normal SKU's boot. You can search the web for working solution. e.g. "dmpstore -d SkuSiPolicyVersion -guid 77FA9ABD-0359-4D32-BD60-28F4E78F784B".
For this daily PC, I disable TPM, Secure Boot and Bitlocker. Then switch from UEFI to BIOS. And 19041.1 PPIRo runs well. PS: My Asus Tablet with 15063 PPIPro had been thrown in the dump then when I had not idea about it. IMHO, no need to take the risk. There are so many SKUs. And there is VMware to test it.
wow - what a mess i have created for myself. thank you so much for this explanation and detail. i will give it a try and report back...... edit - this worked!!!! i create a uefi shell boot stick using rufus. the efi shell 2.2 is an option that rufus knows. my laptop can now do UEFI/secure boot again. that help information was priceless. i'm sure it will help others. thank you so much
also - maybe the inclusion of surfcae-laptop-EFI stuff in widnows builds should be more generally flagged so others dont inadvertantly repeat my error. where else is EFI stuff being hidden? all this is beyond me. great forum - thanks to all.
