It did not work for me. Laptop (No. 1 PC maker) came with pre-installed W8.1 x64 Home. On the last day of W10 free-upgrade program of 2016, got a digital entitlement. Moved to 10 Home since 2018. Recently think of moving to W10 pro. Since the laptop does not support W7: Clean installed into W8.1 pro (with ei.cfg and PID.txt. SSD has been reformatted since 2018). Installed all the drivers. Applied MKT (KMS). Disconnect from internet. Upgraded to 10 from setup.exe (with ei.cfg and PID= xxx-3VV6T). Installed all the drivers again. Connect to internet. 0x803F7001. Tried three 1511 iso, including the one multi edition OEMRET from this thread. One thing I'm not sure is W8.1 pro iso. Version check on install.wim shows: Version : 6.3.9600 ServicePack Build : 17415 Don't know which steps I have done wrong. Please help!
Don't use modified ISOs nor any keys. Try with untouched ISOs: install Windows 8.1 Pro without a key, activate with MSToolkit (EZ activation), offline upgrade to Wndows 10 Pro v1511 (again, no key), then connect to Internet. Should activate almost immediately.
Follow this, it works ! https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...te-upgrade-process.64770/page-95#post-1452048 License transfer also works.
Thanks everyone. It worked this time. My leptop does not have DVD drive, so I used Rufus to create a USB stick. I had to put ei.cfg on W8.1 intallation USB, otherwise it got me straight back to W8.1 Home. Followed johnye_pt's suggestion, installed without W8.1's PID, activated with MKT, upgraded without W10's ei.cfg and PID. However, under settings/updates & security/activation, it shows that W10 pro is activated by key, not by digital entilement. Does that means that I will need to find this key when next time I reinstall OS?
Have you done a clean install of Windows 10 v1903 after successful activation of Windows 10 v1511? That should confirm if you need a key or not, but I doubt it since the upgrade worked.
Do you mean you successfully upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 inside VirtualBox, or did you also successfully transfer the license from the VirtualBox to a real computer? We're trying to confirm the second option with Windows 7 + Daz.
It worked for me, now. I downloaded 1903 consumer edition, maded a USB stick with Rufus, added ei.cfg for PRO-RETAIL (I was afraid of a clean installation would lead me back to Home. Perhaps the fear was unfounded). During clean installation, Windows did not ask for anything. After added some basic drivers, connected to internet. Now I have digital licensed Win 10 Pro. Before clean installation of Win 10 1903 Pro, I got "... activated with ... xxx-*****...". It looks like that even VL-MAK is fine. Thank guys (or girls) for the encouragement.
Something a bit different. I received a machine with a version of W10 I've never seen. Is there a way to get this activated without having to do a reinstall? My first thought was to throw a different drive in the PC, install and activate W7, then upgrade. Once W10 is installed, then move the activation over to the original drive. Would that work, or should I be heading in a different direction? Attached snips of the offending OS.
Thanks for this - it worked perfectly for me and easy and quick (Well, with Win 10 that's relative). Cheers
I have to reinstall W10 on a computer that came with 7. Best way is to install 7, activate with Daz, get ticket, clean install and apply xml file? If the computer came with 8/8.1? I activate with Kms stuff and then create ticket and follow the same path?
Yes. Don't forget to do it disconnected from the internet, and only connect after adding the xml and rebooting. For 8.1 you'll need to do an offline upgrade to Windows 10 v1511 (newer versions don't support upgrade from KMS activated Windows), connect to internet and wait for activation, then do a clean install of latest Windows 10 build. At least that's how I do it.
