1. You performed an in-place upgrade from win 7 to win 10 in VM ? 2. Z390 motherboard & Windows 7 support is Here.
Here to report that the method in the original post is still valid today. Thanks a million everybody. OEM forever.
did the exact same procedure as in the o.p. on an assembled desktop but it was unsuccessful. the error i got was no key found, any ideas ?
Kinda OT, but remember why we all run away from the upgrade process like it's the plague? - Painfully slow, prone to failure $#&^$#&^$ reverting changes %(#$*&#$#$^ and even rendering machines unbootable. So you only do it if you really, really have to. Like for example having to upgrade a small company's PCs in light of the 2020 support ending scare-ware.. Most were potatoes, some oem, some custom assembled, with driver dependencies for both outdated devices and software protections, and a gazillion of programs installed with setup kits nowhere to be found. I never liked much the windows setups after 1607, and did not trust 1909(3) version to work without issues across such various configurations, so after imaging every machine I also did a few test runs mentally prepared for total failure. Well, to my surprise, it went very well, with just a few pieces of software crap deemed "incompatible" that I managed to fix! And rather fast I might say. I'm glad it worked out so well this time, but I still expect horror stories to come in waves in the coming months
1. Did you make Win 7 fully functional : drivers, etc. as asked by OP ? 2. Did you activate Win 7 permanently & check the activation status ? ( KMS solutions, Trial Rearms, etc. will not work ) ( *Activated by genuine key, slic/cert/oem:slp or daz loader ) Thanks. ...
@Enthousiast & @LittlePro thank you for all the inputs which i will surely keep in mind the next time i perform an upgrade.
This thread is actually about avoiding a full upgrade and still get a hwid. I know, some info in the thread is about full upgrading, but that is because the gatherosstate route needs a MAK to be inserted, and although the MAK is recorded from the real upgrade, it's not allowed to post it here. That's why for 7 Pro KMS and 8.1 Pro KMS activated > 10 Pro, there are full upgrade scenarios posted.
1. Yes, I performed an in-place upgrade from win7 to win10 in a VM. Reinstalled and re-upgraded in a VM multiple times, even reinstalled host Win 10 - no luck moving digital license from VM to physical machine. 2. Used the Windows 7 Image updater and modified USB3.1 drivers from win-raid forums (sorry, can't post a link yet) and was able to install Win7 on Aorus Z390 Pro Wifi. Upgraded to Win 10 via gatherosstate method. Worked flawlessly. Thank you for your help. P.S. gatherosstate method worked in a VM as well, although I am not sure it is any faster than in-place upgrade.
With this very new hardware, what sort of settings should I use for Daz Loader activation? CPU: 3950x MOBO: Aorus Pro (no wifi version) I wonder, was Daz Loader designed to work with modern HW?
It's more that windows 7 probably doesn't install on such modern hardware or drivers are unavailable. The hardware doesn't matter for the loader, except when no CSM/Legacy BIOS installs can't be done, then it needs a modified BIOS with a slic in.
Well.. I will try selecting "Gigabyte" and see what happens. If not, I guess I will have to look for alternatives to enable win10.
You don't have to select anything, the loader will do it automated, only in very specific conditions where the defaults don't work. If 7 Pro/Ultimate is installed in legacy bios/mbr mode, the loader will work. clean install 10 and use KMS_VL_ALL or just google for a hwid tool.
Hi, Can anyone help?.....hope this is the right thread? Microsoft have told me that my OS key is blocked by HP..?? I posted the issue on HP forum earlier today but no replies as of yet, so thought I'd try my luck here. Early January this year, I updated from Windows 7 home premium to Windows 10 home. All worked well, with OS activated using my Windows 7 digital license. End of last week windows took a long time opening up and I found that my activation had been lost. I tried Microsoft troubleshooter to re-activate it. The troubleshooter said that the digital license is found, but it gave an error on trying to activate it. I phoned microsoft to be told HP had blocked my license code and to contact them. Can some kind person help me? Laptop = HP Pavilion dv6 LS246EA#ABU 64 bit Windows 10 home v1909 Dave
