That is not really the topic of this thread. HP cannot have blocked the win 10 HWID key for home, it's a generic key for all Home installs with a HWID.
Thanks for replying.... sounds like Microsoft have passed the buck! Any suggestions, to get my activation back? Perhaps a restore to an earlier date, when i had activation? btw which thread would be best suited to this problem?
Let's do it in this thread anyway: Maybe you can first run the QT from here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/multi-oem-retail-project-mrp-mk3.71555/#post-1283849 and post the saved report here, in code tags
Hi Enthousiast, I have the QT report saved to my desktop.... sorry for my ignorance, but how do i post in code tags?
@236dave Code: #14 License Status : Tampered Files/Corrupted Token Store? What did you do, to cause this?
Hi, it's a generic key for home edition that you can easily find through google. Enter this key again and see if you will get the digital license back which normally should happen.
In truth, Windows 8.1 does not support a direct upgrade from Windows 7. This means you will have do a custom install, which means, any applications or drivers you currently have installed will have to be reinstalled. You might likely need updated drivers for some hardware. Windows 8’s built in upgrade compatibility wizard should help you determine what is compatible and needs to be removed before proceeding with the upgrade. Migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 will preserve your personal files and settings though. Notes: Gather all important application discs and hardware driver discs you might need to be reinstalled. Check the manufacturer and software developers website for updates available and to find out about the status of compatibility with Windows 8. It is possible that if the software is compatible with Windows Vista it will likely work with Windows 8 since they share the same driver model. If you are using software such as iTunes or Adobe programs, remember to deauthorize and deactivate them before running setup.
This thread is about avoiding any sort of upgrade doing a clean win 10 install and still get a free hwid for 10. ps. upgrading from 7 to 8.1 works fine.
Yeah, in the past you needed upgrade keys (got them from @murphy78 his windows releases), but probably an ei.cfg could do the trick too. Don't remember anymore but If you don't mind, not going to test it
In tne past in upgraded (insite upgrade) from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8.0 Pro by paying for the upgrade key (30 €). As a free feature i got the Windows Media Center (MS provided a new key). And the migration to Windows 8.1 was free. And the migration for Windows 10 was still free, but the WMC is no longer availble. But this is off topic.
I have a problem regarding hardware changed. I previously used this method to upgrade my machine to WIndows 10, now I built a new system, I didn't realize I already linked my microsoft account with the old computer so I used this method again (using the genuine ticket) and obviously it didn't work. Then I reinstalled and logged in to my microsoft account to switch system, it keeps saying the computer can't activate. What should I do now? Thanks
