How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without going through the complete upgrade process

Ah, I am blind. Just out of curious, why I can activate win 10 through upgrade route from a kms activated win8.1?

Does OP still apply? What about using GenuineTicket from 10586 (1511) ISO instead of 10240?

@yen, i tried upgrading win 8.1 kmspico activated to 10586 and it worked, it has got a Digital Entitlement. Did a clean 10586 install afterward and it also got the DE activation.

Didn't work for me with a MSDN windows 7 key installed on a VM (when I installed my host windows 7 I couldn't find my key...). W10 won't activate.

 

By a "MSDN windows 7 key" you mean a VLK? They are not eligable for the free upgrade...

 

No I don't think so. I now did a fresh W7 install with the same key and it did activate W10 after the upgrade and the following clean W10 install.

Maybe it didn't work because I generated the .xml on a VM.

 

That is the problem, it is taking the VM "hardware" specs

 

So this won't work with the xml created on a VM?

 

The VM has other hardware specs than the host machine so no the vmware xml doesn't work on the host machine, only on the Virtual Machine it's created on.

I have a ASUS laptop with SLIC 2.1 and Windows 7 Pro OEM installed as I bought. Now I like to install fresh Windows 10 Pro. My question is that Do I have to follow all steps in the first page ( Yen ) or I just do fresh installation and skip entering product key, then my laptop will automatically be activated after connecting internet ???

The 10586 iso cannot readout slic bioskeys so you have to do the upgrade or the gatherosstate shortcut to get a HWID for 10.

hi - after installation i setted up the internetconnection & restartet. I firstly tried with Win10Pro64_1511 & after that i tried it with Win10Pro64_10240 on my UEFI(Asus Q87T)-System(both trys with running internet-connection and both wiht KMSpico v10.1.9-activated Win7Pro64SP1). So that was my fault. But why don´t copy the GenuineTicket.xml already in step 2.3?

Can i activaty my system(the same hardware) anyway(after this fault)? I tried to reinstall Win10Pro64_10240 & following your steps from 2.3, but Win10Pro64_10240 don´t activates(evon not with manually restarting the ClipSVC-service).
I further tried goiong from step 1 to 2.5. I activate Win7 with DazLoader2.2.2(windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/genuine says activated) & made clean install with Win10Pro64_10240 withouth success.

stopping clipservice with "net stop clipsvc" does not affect the status of the service in services.msc!?
