Hmm, I've tried again. I'm getting error 0x8007232B DNS name not found when running slmgr /ato... Blah, I've worked it out. That Home key is some volume/kms key. I needed to use default Retail key (8HVX7)...
The version of my win10 is 10586.71. If microsoft upload the newer version, can I use this process to activate the newer version?
Yes, you can. The conditions are windows should be 10 regardless of its inner build numbers and before 29th July 2016.
Don't I need to reinstall to win 7/8? Can I copy gatherosstate.exe to the desktop of win10 10586?And......
You only need to do this once. Your hardware ID will be on the MS Server so any new clean install you do will match & activate...
win7/8 installation and then gatherosstate.exe process is one time. once you activated your windows 10 your system Hardware ID will be saved at MS Activation server. so, next time if you want to reformat your windows drive then you need to boot from the win10 DVD/USB and skip for the key and your windows 10 will automatically gets activated as soon as you connect to the internet.
Can anyone confirm that this works with Daz loader activated Win7? This is what happened: Install Win7 Ultimate and activate with Daz Validate online using IE - get genuine confirmation Use gatherosstate.exe to create GenuineTicket.xml Clean install Win10 Pro without going online Place GenuineTicket.xml in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\ClipSVC\GenuineTicket\ Reboot Connect online and activate Get error saying "this key has been blocked" No activation I think there are three possibilities: Win7 wasn't properly validated online for some reason, maybe it needs all updates? SP1 was installed though gatherosstate.exe was from a later build of Win10? No idea if this is true Maybe MS really did figure out how to block daz loader from activating Win10 Any thoughts? Edit: this happened on a ASUS laptop with Win10 Home preloaded
Last month, I did the same procedure as you on a laptop (preloaded with Vista Home) with Win7 ultimateSp1+Daz loader validated online and successfully activated W10 pro v1511. No need ALL updates; gatherosstate.exe from W10 v1511 ISO Just reboot, not need to run "slmgr /ato" ... EDIT: But yours ALREADY preloaded with W10 Home, may be MS Activation server already have your system Hardware ID saved with W10 home credential ???
Maybe newer laptops with UEFI and Win10 preloaded can block the activation? Upgrading from Daz activated Win7 Ultimate does not yield Win10 Pro, it only allows "upgrading" to Win10 Home Does this mean the upgrade process somehow detects BOTH that Win7 Ultimate is not genuine, and that there is a Win10 Home license preloaded? Perhaps the Win7 drivers are to blame? Win7 did not recognize a number of devices (wifi, vid card, etc.), so perhaps the GenuineTicket.xml from Win7 did not match the machine detected by Win10.
Think you must be right about hardware. I have gone from WIN7 Ultimate with DAZ loader to 10 PRO many times, as I have reinstalled about 10 times on my 2 PCS. I know some will say I am crazy, but if I am not happy with something I always wipe and start again. Last time on WIN 10, I could not boot with Paragon Partition Manager DVD on new SSD, tried to hit F12 but options would only flash up and go. Solved it with my favourite Killdisk booting to DOS. Ignore any complaints from Win 7 - sorts itself out. Always loads of complaints about drivers, and never ethernet never connects. Just run WIN10 setup DVD from WIN7 and it magically sorts everything out, including fairly old Epson Photo Printer 935 (ethernet starts working near the end of setup). That is why I think 10 is brilliant, and do not worry about the telemetry. If Bill comes knocking on my door with a big stick, I will post a change of opinion.
You should be forcing it to Win10 Pro. If you run setup it will just read the Win10 OEMM key in your UEFI & default to Home (Core)...
How to "force" the upgrade to Win10 Pro? Clean install? Running the setup from Win7 Ultimate only gives one option - Win10 Home/Core. Also, has anyone gotten inconsistent results after activating Win7 with Daz? Validating online sometimes shows "windows could not be validated as genuine", but if the validation is re-run (with no reboots or updates or anything) then it would sometimes show as genuine. I would say about half the time it would show "windows could not be validated as genuine". Is this a problem?
Running the setup from win 7 ultimate will give you 10 pro (only not on a branded system with an embedded windows 8.x Core/10 Home key, then you'll have to use the 10240 iso to upgrade to 10 pro and do a clean install using the 10586 iso combined with eiter a pro pid.txt or an appropiate ei.cfg). As far as the validation goes, my best experience is when you save the legitcheck.exe first and run it as admin, it works for me all the time.
I use 10586 isos at first clean install of windows 10 and it still works, no need the double work. Windows 7 pro/ultimate-> taking genuine ticket -> installing windows 10 pro 10586 updated february -> copying ticket offlice -> BAM magic happens, windows activate!
So you don't have a win 8.x Core/10 Home oemm embedded key on your system, read carefully ps, enterprise is not pro, enterprise is not inside the free 10 offer.
My mistake, i wanted to say ultimate, I'll edit my post. Also i read your post 3 times and I now realized that you say a completely different thing from what I understood the first time.
