you can use each gatherosstate.exe But it is necessary that the LAN-Drivers of your old system are properly installed (MAC recognision). Background: Had an old MB with an odd sort of Realtek-Drivers. Fresh Win7 Install didn't inklude them. GenuineTicket.xml created before Driverinstall didn't result in an activated Win10.
Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable > Turn on fast startup (recommended) Deselect that option, and each time you do an upgrade of the system (example RTM > Treshold & Treshold > Redstone) then go back and disable it again, because MS thinks it's a great idea to change that setting when updating!
I tried this trick and it worked, thanks, spared me some extra work. Btw... is today is the last day to get free Win 10 upgrade? I was wondering if this system is going to work past the deadline for the free upgrade, it should, right? I mean... i generate the genuineticket.xml now... and dont actually perform the upgrade at this moment (i have a few spare computers around but i dont really have time to upgrade them all today), i just upgrade them in the next days when i can.. the computer should still activate using the genuineticket.xml trick, i suppose?
You can see the amount of time left here: microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-upgrade (I can't hotlink yet).
Win 10 upgrade ends by 12 pm 29th July? Please clarify when the Win 10 upgrade time would end? By 12 pm 29th July or 12 pm 28th July? Kindly clarify.
Create new partition Install in new partition Dual boot Win7/Win10 Decide you don't like Win10 Format ....... Gone. I have done this to my 2 computers just incase M$ comes to their senses. But I am not holding my breath
Just for the fun of it, today I installed one Daz activated W7 and generated a GenuineTicket.xml for it. I'm going to run the upgrade after the free offer ends. Most likely the activated W7 install becomes an unactivated W10. But it will be interesting to see if the W10 setup warns about this situation.
