How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without going through the complete upgrade process

Hi guys! So I finally managed to get w7 on it, somehow. Not all drivers installed, but most did. I downloaded the latest version of w10 with the media creation tool and will use that for gatherosstate and clean install. Hope everything works fine. Should I try with an older verson of win 10?

 

16299.xx will do the trick, just make sure no hardware has exclamation marks in device manager.

 

The touchpad doesn't work and there is one unknown device. It's almost finished installing all updates, if it's not going to install them via updates, will this not work?

 

download the drivers from the manufacturers website, shouldn't take more than 2 hrs. If win 7's device manager has the capability of downloading drivers from m$ like win10, then use it.

 

can digital license be transferred from one system to another if the license is linked to ms account and the user removes the os from the old system?
and learning from the past 2 years afaik, microsoft has been deliberately leaving loopholes for activation. That might also be true here.
Has anyone tried activating another system by digital license acquired on a different system via daz loader + genuineticket.xml method + ms account.
what i came to know via official sources
- only retail version has this capability.

 

The whole purpose of linking the Digital License to the MSA is to be able to transfer the DL to other hardware or (re)activate the system when the hardware is changed.

But this is not the thread to discuss it.

Well selected ASUS SLIC windows 7 detected the slic so I installed the key and was activated. Then I installed windows 10 (disconnected from the network) added the ASUS.BIN slic and followed the same procedure as physical machines. After the last reboot connected to the internet but the VM was not activated and using the troubleshoot got the message that I need to purchase in the store

 

The HWID is established by sending the info to MSFT when the upgrade runs, so stay online or generate a genuineticket.xml on the activated win 7 SP1 install, install 10 and implement the genuineticket.xml. If it doesn't work you most likely did it wrong or win 7 SP1 wasn't properly activated.

 

According to this, can I use any 10586 build? I believe there are 2 available, 10586.0.160426-1409.th2_refresh and 10586.0.160212-2000.th2_refresh.

Also does it matter if I use Pro retail or Pro volume?

I was able to activate Win 10 under VirtualBox:
1) Installed win7 ultimate added SLIC + DAZ for installing key + generated GenuineTicket.xml
2) Created a snapshot and upgraded win7 to win 10 deleting all files
3) followed the rest of the steps and was able to activate.

Doing the same with a new win 10 VM (not upgraded one) didn't work.

Install will see it as new machine (with different hardware) hence no activation.

 

I hope this tutorial will still work after Dec. 31. 2017

Just in case, we upgraded all W7 to W10 at work (small office).

 

30th December 2017. Lenovo laptop. Win10 x64 Fall Creators 2017 Edition. No problem in the whole process.
