That's because your machine was bought with home pre installed so when you do a clean install, win10 home is automatically installed because of the bios home key. You have to add these lines in the ei.cfg file in sources iso folder to get the choice between installing home and pro when booting from the usb stick Code: [Channel] Retail [VL] 0
So I'll just add those options in the "channel" section of that file from the windows 10 ISO that I'll install? what about the comment below?
yo go to ISO/sources folder then you create a file called "ei.cfg" (if it's already there, you delete all the lines and add the ones i mentionned) then you just add these lines i mentionned before on it and you save. You can do that directly from the usb stick. By doing that you will be able to install win10 pro when booting from the usb stick.
But I'm installing win7 ultimate then upgrade to win10 pro, or is it better to install win8.1 then win10? Hey man, if that works I'll be in shock... I'll let you know how it turned out this weekend. thanks for your tips so far! eit: just one more thing, only specific versions work right? i saw people mentioning revision numbers for the ISO, so I need the correct ISO version of windows 10? also is there a pro only ISO?
you onlly need win10 pro (whatever the version, 1709 is the last stable release until now) to be able to use the ticket.xml file to get your win10 activated after the clean install. Yes you can download only win10 pro by using UUP dump tool by @mkuba50 and @s1ave77 by following this tuto => https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-10-esd-repository.59082/page-77#post-1380554
its an unnecessary and complicated solution. why not just save following in ei.cfg and paste it in source folder of windows 10 iso. with this you can choose any edition and it'll prevent automatic edition selection (by oem)in win 8.1 and 10 Code: [EditionID] [Channel] Retail [VL] 0
i've already gave him that solution few posts back => https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...te-upgrade-process.64770/page-83#post-1416524 he asked me whether people can dowload only the edition that they need to install and i answered him about that by giving him the tool that allows to do that.
Were you doing a full upgrade or using the directions of the OP to be able to skip the upgrade process? The OP is not uptodate with @mkuba50's latest findings, when using this command to apply the genuineticket, xml, it's not needed to keep the install offline till after copying the genuineticket.xml to the appropriate folder: Code: clipup -v -o -altto x:\ x:\ being the folder or drive the genuineticket.xml is placed.
I'm trying to install windows 10 pro over Windows 7 Ultimate that is activated with Daz loader, using the usb created by the Microsoft media creation tool. I was hoping to keep all my files and applications intact and just upgrade, but the procedure for successful activation in this thread mentions a fresh install. A fresh install means it'll delete all my data in c drive, am I right? For a fresh install, I just need to boot from usb by going to bios? Or should I just run the setup file on the windows 10 installation usb from windows explorer? I'm sorry if I sound very confused.
Fresh install will delete all the data on the disk where windows is installed ! you could install windows 7 on a spare disk activate and upgrade windows 7 to 10 to get a HWID if I'm correct ps if windows 7 is not upgradeble anymore nothing is lost ! and last upgrade mount image from explorer ! Fresh install boot from usb
Oh, you mean install it in one of the other drives? I was trying to install windows 10 from within windows 7. Will that not activate windows 10 using hwid and the existing product key?
I've done that and obtained the genuine ticket XML file. Should I do a fresh install now? Or can I just install windows 10 by clicking on the setup file in the usb stick while I'm logged into windows 7?
Is it better to do a fresh install? I mean, are there better chances of windows getting activated if I do a fresh install through booting through usb?
Does not matter for activation ! Fresh you have more chance to get a clean fully functional windows 10 but you have to install all your program's and data afterwards
Hi, again! So, I've been trying to activate windows 10. I've copied the genuine ticket XML file to the location specified in the instructions. But it disappears after rebooting. I haven't yet turned on the internet yet because authentication might fail. Any idea how to solve this? Edit: I just realised it's supposed to disappear, and I need to connect to the internet. Thanks for all the help today, MDL netizens!
It supposed to dissapear after reboot you better do it again and have a connection to the internet offcourse how should you ever get a HWID from microsoft activation server
