Nice one Xinso, I have tried offline activation with both ClipSVC as well as SPP tokens, and both overwrites the restored tokens - it seems they store a hash somewhere.
What if I generate this GenuineTicket.xml, and then still opt to upgrade to Windows 10 using Windows Update? Would it be fine? Isn't it that when you run the gatherosstate.exe and generate the GenuineTicket.xml, doesn't this process sends your HWID to MS already? I mean it might create a conflict as it would be essentially like registering your HWID twice. (First when the GenuineTicket.xml was generated/created, and second when Windows 10 upgrades using Windows Update). I Just want to make sure because as much as possible I want to go through the official method of upgrading to Windows 10 so as to minimize or if at all possible, avoid any problems. But I would also like to generate this GenuineTicket.xml (as fail-safe method) just in case something goes wrong with the official method of upgrading to Windows 10.
Generating the ticket won't invalidate your upgrade option. The ticket is created when anyone launches the Media Creation tool as well. What if someone launched it and then decided not to use it? It does not seem logical that it would become invalid. I doubt if Microsoft gathers the HWID at the time this is created. I think it's gathered once a successful activation is made. This file is just an offline file that is encrypted with HWID info. I could be wrong.... but thats what it looks like to me.
In VMware i installed w7 Pro,Run Daz Loder restarted,Go Online Validate Succesfully. Disconnect INTERNET run gatherosstate.exe,Collected GenuineTicket.xml,Copied it To Another VHD. Formatted VHD installed 10 Pro Copied GenuineTicket.xml at proper place,Then rest restarted. After this i connected to internet ONLY. with in five to ten Minutes its activated automatically.
Does not matter, it gathers your system Hardware ID along with genuine OS info so even it can generate offline too.
Using this method, will I be able to "upgrade" existing Win 7 HOME to Win 10 Pro (instead of Win 10 Home) ?
@Yen My sincere thanks Guys, you have saved me from an abyss that I was going to throw myself into. I've been round many forums and checked out many tweaks to try and get my W7 updated (which kept falling over in different places at different times using the different methods (auto upgrade, media installation from USB/Disk etc), had tried around 20 times! I had already found I could install W10 from a clean slate with no issues, but couldn't get round the forum. I do have W7 Home and had downloaded pro and installed that on a clean drive. Redownloaded the W10home, and performed the upgrade. My one USB pendrive kept stopping at 24% with an error saying ensure all files are available. I redid the USB setup to another pendrive and this one worked. Used the steps above to do the license key, and after lots of pain, this one worked straight off. So Kudos to you all. Cheers Miph
Does the language eg: single english vs english vs chinese affect the activation or pro vs home?. Thx
Remove GenuineTicket.xml Check if all drivers are installed especially wifi and NIC / install latest drivers, reboot. then go on with 2.4. There are laptops/notebooks who have this issue, we still do not know exactly why...
