Bat confused on why You make thread Nobody reads anything They'll just make a New thread to ask what's already been posted several hundred times
There seems to be a lot of needless steps here that I'm sure are well intended. I've upgraded 3 different machines now without doing Check disk or SFC scannow. No issues.
It's a good idea but I agree nobody will read it. Come Wednesday morning everybody with a post count high enough will ask whatever question pops in their head by starting a new thread. It's already starting today, there are probably 20 new threads already that have been answered multiple time in multiple places before. Mights not want to be here Wednesday.
Don't give up, man. We don't gain very much as a society if we only let a few people give their input.
Well I have a fairly complex Windows 8.1 and I thought I'm better off with a clean installation so I don't need to take risks when upgrading. So I installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 with update 3 on my C partition, restored the activation from my backup made with MTK and the installation became permanently activated. Then I mounted the OEM Windows 10 image and launched the upgrade. It took quite a long time as it downloaded all the necessary updates and then after some time the final boot and the activation stayed fine.
Do you really need a clean installation of Windows 10 if you updated from a clean Windows 8.1? I don't really see the point of a clean installation of Windows 10 since by the look of it. It create a backup of your Windows.old 8.1. Wouldn't your new installation would be Windows 10?
That's correct. I did realize it after the upgrade. So as a matter of fact it's a clean installation and I don't need to wipe it and do it all over again. Besides before installing some strange (!) programs I also have a Windows 10 on a Hyper-V and can test it there before doing anything insane
