Hi, Has anybody been able to put SLIC 2.1 in the existing SLIC 2.0 BIOS? (HP-Compaq 6820s bios version F.0B) Thanks in advance, Applegate.
Have the same laptop here. Bios version is F.0D RWeverything shows SLIC 2.0 where SLIC ToolKit shows 2.1. I guess with this HP bios only way to go is WoW bootloader. Can anyone conform this bios can't be modded please?
6830s have slic 2.1 in latest bios, however it needs to be turned on with HPBI103.EXE... Might be same for 6820s model... if bios is from around summer 2009 then there is big chance slic got updateded.
You probably can (or with one of other 2 tools for HP computers, HPBI103.EXE is not the only one)... However not sure what result it will be. If you moded it with phoenixtool and pubkey/marker stayed 2.0, i assume if you enable this OEM activation with HPBI103.EXE it will revert to 2.0 slic. What i know about 6830s model is. Its EFI bios, with key/marker 2.1 and DUMMY slic. If pubkey/marker would be 2.0 i would assume there are 2 ways this can be moded. One would be, replace pubkey/marker and leave dummy slic and then use HPBI103.EXE to enable oem activation. Otherway is, replace dummy slic with full 2.1 SLIC and leave OEM activation off. Both way should work... in theory... Or just replace pubkey/marker and dummy slic and forget about HPBI103.EXE and whatever default setting there is. You need to watch out what slic you are inserting, if originaly there was HPQOEM.SLIC-MPC 2.0 slic, you need to use HPQOEM.SLIC-MPC 2.1 slic or it wont work (for example not even other HP slic wont work or from any other company, it must be exact match by OEMID and TABLEID).
Because of SoLor's 6830s related posts... first, this thread showed up in 6830s search and secondly because of SoLor's 6830s related posts. You can read three of SoLoR's quotes in my earlier post...
