whenever I turn my hp3180 photosmart printer on win 7 bsod with irq less error, have tried a plain old hp inkjet and this does not happen only with the 3180. Tried the hp win7 drivers and still bsod. No problems with xpsp3, only with win7 and vista. Set up is asrock n61p-s board with amd 64x2 300+ cpu
4gb of ddr800 ram, 2 sata 500gb hd no raid, os is win 7 64bit home premium, All software installed, office 2007, creative suite cs4, win 7, kaspersky is legit.

Any ideas? really like 7 but I need to be able to use scanner for work (graphic/web designer).

I apologize for the long post but I am pulling what hair I have left out.

    Thanks in advance

If it's that important you could download virtualbox and then install a virtual machine from an XP SP3 ISO and then just load it up whenever you need to print something ot circumvent the problem for now. Would probably save you the money you'd spend on another printer/scanner until the drivers for the HP one work. It could be something else as well altogether. Did you install your printer when you first installed the OS?

That's an alternative if nothing else works, the printer was detected when os was installed, before office 2007 and all updates same for cs4. I was thinking of that since I had software on win98 that I had to install before certain others or else bsod, maybe same thing for 7 and vista.

problem fixed, it's now in the trash. Hooked up my old deskjet 1220C, windows found it no bsod. Will have to buy a new scanner or an all-in-one.

    Thanks for the suggestions
